FACINORA, is a nice name for a sultry, seductress porno actress, that my friend is a compliment. Well, it’s actually Portuguese for "we rock your socks off".
Hell is here, the opening track is watching Porno actress Ava Devine slowly undresses her clothing to her birthday suit. Yup! That is awesome in my book. As you know, Brazil is the land of where aggressive Metal took place, since the days of the mighty Sepultura, Sarcofago, RDP, Vulcano, Chakal & others. Source of Madness, Hell is here, Religion Is A Plague (RIP), Empty Illusions are great thrashing tracks that not only tight but recalls back the good ol’ 80’s thrash Metal days where we corresponded in letter writing.
Having said that, the band plays really up-tempo Thrash metal and old school as fuck. Nothing wrong with that, albeit that in these days, the resurgence of retro-thrash bloomed so much, that nowadays playing old school thrash metal is no longer an automatic win in most people's books - absurd as it may be.
Source of Madness, features a blistering solo that reminded me of a young Kirk Hammet. The band previously released one demo, Born In Fear, back in 2008. All four songs on that demo are also on the new album Hell Is Here. So, the new album is 40% awesome already.
Hell Is Here is a straight-up thrash release, alright. It’s a return to the core strengths of the genre and maybe perhaps a tad too safe for purists. But as long as it's well-executed, dang it! I’ll be moshing away with my 30’s & 40’s circle of thrashers. Reviving the old school of Thrash metal spirit is something to be proud of. If you’re new to Thrash Metal, and want to have that authentic feel, you can look for other old school Brazilian bands that I have said earlier to get that vintage classic thrash Metal album.
The vocals also reminded me of a raw version of Mr. Kurt (D.R.I). That's about all that needs to be said, really. I'm sure you'll be checking this band out by now if you're interested in good retro-thrash, if not, there is always good ol' porn.
